It’s always nice to put a face to a name or voice, or just to know who you’re dealing with, especially when it comes to something as important as buying a house or as personal as making a Will.
There’s over 150 people working at GWlegal so it would be impossible to introduce you to everyone. We can however introduce you to the management team, the people responsible for each department of the firm and the staff who will be working on your case.
Lynne is a licensed conveyancer with more than 20 years’ experience. She joined GW in 2005 and has since then, moved up the ranks to become head of the department.
Since joining GW as a trainee solicitor in 2002 Kev qualified as a solicitor in 2005 specialising in road traffic accidents. Since then he has risen up the ranks to Personal Injury manager. Kevin is a keen litigator with a focus on high-value and complex road traffic accident claims.
With over 20 years’ legal experience, Claire has worked in every aspect of the PI claim process (office junior, assistant fee earner, fee earner, team leader and now, manager). She oversees all claims that come into the company.
Hayley qualified as a solicitor in 2004 and joined GW a few years’ later. Although she began as a fee earner, she was soon promoted to team leader, then to risk manager and now, she manages the employee liability, public liability, holiday sickness and large loss teams.
A specialist property lawyer, Richard joined the firm in 2003 and heads the Equity Release team, advising thousands of clients each year on releasing equity from their homes to support them in retirement. Richard also serves as the firm’s representative at the Equity Release Solicitors Alliance.
Linda is an expert in all things wills, probate, estate planning, lasting power of attorney and court of protection. She has more than 25 years’ overall legal experience, is a qualified Solicitor of 17 years and a qualified Trust and Estate Practitioner of 15 years. She is also a member of STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) and is qualified to teach adult learners under the City & Guilds 7307 Certificate. She has been with GW, in total, for over 15 years.
Paul qualified as a solicitor in 2008. Since then, he has worked across various roles at GW since and has overseen the expansion of the financial claims department since 2014. Paul’s career has focused solely on financial claims, so we feel confident calling him a true expert in this area!
Sam has been with GW for about four years now. He manages the sales team, looks after data acquisition and deals with complaints and compliance issues.
Alex oversees all marketing activities and is responsible for the firm’s branding and graphic design, including its recent rebrand project. He joined the firm in 2011 as a Personal Injury file opener but swiftly moved to the Marketing department, putting his media degree to good use. Starting as Marketing Administrator, he became a Marketing Executive in 2013 and Marketing Manager in 2018.
Chris began his career at GW in 2003 as IT junior. He has since risen through the ranks to become IT Development Manager, overseeing the development team and the systems architecture for GWlegal.
Lindsey has been with GW since July 2014. She has over 25 years’ experience in commercial IT and has worked in Sydney, Boston, Florida, Copenhagen, Amsterdam and Milan. She returned to her hometown Liverpool to join GW as a business analyst in the IT department. Since then, she has also gained BCS International Diploma in Business Analysis.
Emma joined GW as an admin assistant in the remortgage department, progressing to a fee earner with her own team, and later becoming a national account manager. She returned to the firm in 2016, after a stint working elsewhere in the industry, as Head of Sales for the property department.
Teresa joined the conveyancing team in 2006. After 18 months with the firm, she moved to the sales team and, given her bubbly personality, it’s no surprise she has remained there since.
Gav may have grown up in Hampshire, but he has truly made Liverpool his adopted home – he joined GW in 2009! He plays a key role in bringing work into our property department and maintaining relationships with introducers and partner organisations.
Debbie joined GW in 2006 as Assistant Finance Manager, which then led to the role of Finance Manager in 2010, and subsequently the appointment to Head of Accounts. She holds ACCA accredited finance qualifications and has 30 years’ experience in all aspects of accounts within several industries including Legal, Security, Retail, Manufacturing, and previously with an airline where she was based at Liverpool John Lennon Airport.
Lauren joined GW in 2004 and has been with us ever since! She supports Barbara run the HR department and is a direct point of contact for staff. Lauren is also a member of CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development).
Barbara joined GW in 2004 as a HR assistant. She now runs the department! Barb is responsible for payroll, customer service and quality assurance, and also assists with compliance matters.
Adele oversees all operations across GW and specifically manages the Personal Injury and Marketing departments. Most recently, she managed the firm’s office move – from Mersey Chambers to 20 Chapel Street – getting the job done with her unique flare and eye for design. She also oversaw the rebrand project. Adele joined the firm in 2003 as an RTA solicitor and become the Personal Injury manager in 2004. She was promoted to Director of Operations in 2011.
Allister is responsible for the financial management of the partnership. He joined Goldsmith Williams in 2009 following previous roles at Carole Nash Insurance, Littlewoods and American Express.
As one of the founding partners, Chris is a specialist conveyancing solicitor and has been instrumental in the success of GWlegal through his business acumen and innovative ideas including IT development and staff training. Chris continues to take a leading role in the strategic development of the firm.
Senior partner Simon Cottrell joined the firm in 1986 and was instrumental in its expansion into Personal Injury litigation due to his national reputation as a specialist litigation solicitor. He is a member of APIL and MASS.
