Sizing up solicitors: Law Society plans to launch comparison site

From “Go Compare” to “Compare the Meerkat”, comparison sites are now part of our everyday life along with their annoying theme tunes and catchphrases. And now it appears the Law Society is considering getting in the game, investigating the feasibility of launching its own solicitor-based comparison site.

Picking the right solicitor is essential for all areas of law, and particularly in regards to conveyancing as highlighted in last week’s issue of Mortgage Strategy “Choosing Wisely”.

With this in mind the Law Society has begun working on creating a solicitor comparison website, building on its current “Find a Solicitor” functionality to include such elements as detail on quality, areas of specialism and maybe even price.

While there are plans to relaunch the Law Society website later in the year, a comparison site would be unlikely to go live until 2013.

There are other solicitor review sites on the market including www.solicitor.info which allows customers who have used the services of a solicitor to write an appraisal of their experience.
