How a landlord can benefit from a broker
Published: 11/11/2013
Over a third of landlords and property investors are unaware of funding sources beyond the high street lenders, according to Shawbrook Bank.
Shawbrook Bank is one of many specialist lenders whose lending is through a network of selected professional intermediaries rather than direct to the client. Landlords and investors going straight to the high street could therefore be missing out on other, more suitable deals.
When questioned mortgage brokers felt they are often a ‘last resort’ after the investor had exhausted their high street options. Mortgage intermediaries believed only 20% of landlords understood the benefits and value a broker can bring to securing finance.
Karen Bennett is the Director of Sales and Marketing – Commercial Mortgages at Shawbrook Bank:
“Property investors need counsel from someone who really understands their sector and brokers provide this level of expertise, as well as in-depth knowledge of the whole market. This includes specialist lenders like Shawbrook, which not only take a more tailored approach to funding but have also proven our appetite to lend.”
