Hi, I’m Adele Whittle, a solicitor and Director of Operations, here at Goldsmith Williams.

Our personal injury department has been helping clients injured in an accident make a successful claim for compensation for over 25 years. Last year we settled over 8000 claims and recovered over £14m in compensation.

Goldsmith Williams specialises in many areas of accident claims including road traffic accidents, accidents at work, accidents in a public place, industrial deafness and serious, or catastrophic, injuries such as severe head or spinal trauma.

As we know many people are anxious about making a claim we aim to make this as stress free as possible by ensuring each member of the Personal Injury team has a low case load so they can complete cases quickly and also be on hand to ease any concerns or answer questions.

Once we have assessed your case and you have signed and returned all the appropriate paperwork, we’ll write to the insurer about the accident. They then have three months to investigate the claim.

Providing they admit liability, you’ll need to attend a 30 minute medical. The medical report will be sent to the insurer for them to agree and make an initial offer for compensation. Once a figure has been agreed, you’ll receive your compensation and start to put the accident behind you.

In a minority of cases where the insurer does not admit liability or they fail to make an acceptable compensation offer, your claim may have to go to court but we’ll be in regular contact, updating you on progress and offering advice and support throughout.

We know there can be some stigma associated with personal injury claims but we believe the overwhelming majority of people who make a claim have been genuinely injured and so we maintain - if you have been involved in an accident because of the recklessness or negligence of somebody else then it is your right to receive access to justice and fair and reasonable compensation.
