Firm with first individual investors granted ABS licence

Everyman Legal is the first law firm to receive an alternative business structure licence with individual non-lawyer investors.
The firm, which employs both lawyers at its Oxfordshire base as well as developing a network of home-working solicitors around England, has six private investors which firm founder, James Hunt, describes as people whom he has known for many years.
Three ABS firms prior to Everyman Legal – Parabis, Knights and Keoghs – have too had private investment. However they all received backing from large private equity companies rather than individual investors.
Everyman Legal previously hit the headlines back in October 2011 when it announced plans to list on junior stock exchange Sharemark.
All six investors, who specialise in acting for entrepreneurs, will become shareholders shortly.
