Christmas Markets To Visit This Festive Season

The countdown to Christmas Day is officially underway! To get yourself in the festive spirit, why not visit a Christmas market?
Whether you’re considering visiting a Christmas market based in the UK or travelling abroad for a Christmas holiday, these are some of the most popular destinations for Christmas markets around Europe:
Liverpool (St George’s Hall)
First up had to be our home city, Liverpool!
Liverpool is festive as anything during the winter months and the city’s Christmas markets doesn’t disappoint in this regard. Visitors can indulge in mulled wine and other festive tipples from the various stalls and bars, have a laugh taking part in the various market stall activities, or browse the various items and gifts on offer from local artists. Even better, entry is free!

Manchester
Manchester has a whole host of Christmas markets that is sure to appeal to a wide range of visitors this November and December.
The largest market on offer is in Exchange Square which offers mulled wine, specialist foods and local crafts. Elsewhere, on King Street there is a unique twist with Italian and Mediterranean foods available, while Cathedral Gardens has the festive favourite Ice Rink surrounded by food and drink stalls or visit The Winter Gardens in Piccadilly where you can try the bratwurst sausages, various hot chocolates, pancakes and many more!

London (Winter Wonderland)
Soak up the festive atmosphere of the fantastic Winter Wonderland in Hyde Park, London!
This is one of the biggest Christmas markets based in London, with over 100 wooden cabins on offer to visit, with exciting Christmas gifts, handmade crafts and jewellery available, as well as various food stalls to tuck into to!
Winter Wonderland is also home to the biggest outdoor ice rink in the UK, as well as having a massive observation wheel and a range of Christmas shows for families of all ages to enjoy.

Birmingham (Frankfurt Market)
A popular fixture in the Brimingham Christmas calendar is the Frankfurt Christmas market, which is a favourite of locals and many visitors based across the UK and throughout Europe.
Birmingham lights up during the festive time with the arrival of the Christmas market, with stalls on Victoria Suare and New Street available for visitors to check out.
The Frankfurt Christmas market is the largest authentic German market that is outside of Germany or Austria, offering a large range of traditional gifts, as well as tasty food and drink such as pretzels, schnitzels, bratwurst and more.
Whether you want to take in the amazing Christmas sights by going on the Big Wheel, or go on a fun and romantic Christmas skate, you can do all this and more when visiting Birmingham’s Market.

Vienna
If you’re looking to jet off abroad to celebrate the Christmas season, why not consider visiting Vienna!
The Austrian city is one of the most popular destinations when it comes to Christmas markets, with up to a whopping 20 markets on offer for visitors to enjoy!
The most popular market to visit is Chriskindlmarkt near the historic Rathaus City Hall. The market stalls offer a unique opportunity to rent a boot mug to have various beverages in for a deposit fee which you can get back at the end of your visit upon returning the mugs, or buy them as an early Christmas gift to yourself.
For something a bit different, why not visit the Schonbrunn Palace Christmas market, which is a popular choice among families, with a fun zoo and gardens available for children to explore.
