Published: 03/11/2016

Sick of renting? Ready to settle down? Here are some reasons why Liverpool could be the city of you and your family’s dreams, according to GW’s property team.

1) Business is booming

Liverpool is home to a bigger proportion of fast-growing firms than anywhere else in the UK, according to a 2016 report by the Enterprise Research Centre.

Even smaller independents are enjoying the city’s renewed buzz, with organisations such as Independent Liverpool helping quirkier restaurants, cafes, bars and shops to become the norm for city-goers of all ages.

2) The price is right

Research often suggests that Liverpool is one of the most affordable cities in the country to purchase a property. The average price of a home is £120,000, well below the average UK price of £200,000, making it the country’s most affordable property hotspot, according to research by Which? Mortgage Advisors earlier in the year.

3) There’s something for everyone

If period-style properties are your style, head to the gorgeous and green Sefton Park/Lark Lane area. You’re also spoilt for choice in the lovely suburbia of the neighbouring Wirral.

For the creative inner-city types, the Baltic Triangle is quickly becoming one of Liverpool’s most desired places to live. A hotspot for young professionals.

4) The transport links

Lime Street, James Street, Central. Liverpool has no shortage of mainland and underground train services to get you wherever locally, or throughout the UK, you need to go. Liverpool John Lennon Airport is also a stone throw’s away, whereas Manchester Airport is easily accessible too via car, train or coach. Eurotrip, anyone?

5) The people

Need we say more? We could talk about Liverpool’s booming business, property and cultural sector all day. However, at the end of the day, it has to people to sense of community that makes the city an ideal location to purchase a home.

Indeed, the city has been voted the UK’s friendliest!

GW property guru Emma Coffey says:

“Purchasing a property – whether it’s your first home or one of several investments – is a big life step and deciding on your ideal location is just one of many considerations.

“Property law is a difficult area and buying a house can we one of the most stressful things we go through in our lives. To ensure the process goes as smoothly as possible, it is always worth enlisting the help of a solicitor experienced in property. That way, you can get enjoying your new home a lot sooner.”
