You Can Now Move House As The Housing Market Comes Out Of Lockdown
Published: 14/05/2020
Good news! The housing market has come out of lockdown in England! But what does this mean exactly? We take a look.
The recent government regulations on Covid-19 that were announced, came into effect on Wednesday 13 May 2020, which means those who were wanting to view properties and complete purchases can now do so, with estate agents opening, conveyancing services to continue as normal and removal firms to help with house moves.
It was recently reported that an estimated 450,000 buyers and renters had to put their plans on hold during the lockdown, so this will be welcome news as their original plans can now resume.
However, while the housing market looks to get back to some form of normality, those looking to move to a new house are being encouraged to continue doing their property searching online and only visit a property they are seriously considering moving to. When visiting, social distancing rules should be followed and you should avoid touching surfaces.
Meanwhile, the property markets in Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland remain shut. Home viewings are not permitted under lockdown regulations and their land registries are either running a reduced service or not registering transactions.
