Introducing GWlegal… your fresh, new Goldsmith Williams Solicitors. This rebrand sees us, after more than 30 years, make our biggest transformation ever. It’s everything you’ve come to expect from your law firm, but brighter and even better. New name. New logo. New website. New address. New GWlegal.
Why are we changing our name?
We are changing our name to better reflect the company that we are – a thoroughly modern firm in an ever-changing marketplace.
The team here at Goldsmith Williams Solicitors has always prided itself in providing the most efficient, tech-savvy processes for our B2B and B2C clients alike. An obvious example of GW’s forward-thinking approach is GWlive, our innovative digital case management system, which enables brokers and introducers to open cases instantly and maintain 24-hour access to them. The process is professional but also short and snappy, just like our new name!
Is GWlegal a brand new firm, then?
GW will continue to provide all the award-winning services it has done so for the past 30 years, but under a bright and fresh new persona that really cements our vision to move forward.
We remain under the exact same ownership and board of management, headed by our partners Eddie Goldsmith, Chris Williams and Simon Cottrell, in addition to our Finance Director Allister Hill and Director of Operations Adele Whittle. Adele also remains actively involved in the personal injury department, with Lynne McCaffrey (Property), Linda Cummins (Wills and Probate) and Richard Epsley (Equity Release) strong holding their respective departments, as usual.
We are, and always will be, the legal professionals you can depend upon.
Is it true the firm is moving?
Why yes, it is. GW made its historic Mersey Chambers home 15 years ago and, while we are sad to leave, our new, contemporary office space in the heart of the Liverpool commercial district (20 Chapel Street) will reflect our modernising approach to our legal services.
It’s also really nice to look at!
It will be business as normal throughout the entire move – which starts in phases on Monday 4th September 2017 – and we will update all clients and partners about our new contact details. If you use our old details, you’ll still reach us for now.

Our mission statement
GWlegal’s ultimate mission is to provide a fully rounded legal proposition for clients, who will return to GW again and again.
We offer the everyday legal services you require to move smoothly through each stage of life’s journey. Property law when purchasing your first home. Equity release when you are ready to retire. Financial claims or personal injury services when something goes wrong. Will writing to protect you and your loved ones.
We also strive to continually investigate new areas of work that can help fulfil this mission in the modern world, as well as maintain the profit necessary to thrive in the changing legal landscape.
GWlegal began as Goldsmith Williams Solicitors in Merseyside more than 30 years ago as a small firm of property lawyers. We have grown into one of the country’s most respected national firms since then. However, our approach to our clients, stakeholders and people remains very much that of a smaller, local business. Our approach is a ‘family’ one – the receptionist who took your call in 1999 may well do so again when you phone back in 2017. Our department heads have years and years of experience at the firm. Overall, the majority of our staff boast long-service status. In turn, the service we provide to clients is warm and personalised (yet straight-forward without confusing, legal jargon) and done so with a desire to exceed expectations.
Despite our many years though, we are a modern firm. Our online services are at the cutting edge of legal technology. We aim to improve our services continually in this regard, to ensure GWlegal is the client’s solicitor of choice, that GW is the preferred workplace for our people, and that our offering is equally profitable to all.
