Who doesn’t love a family visit to a Christmas market?

Obviously that was a rhetorical question because as far as we are concerned, festive gatherings are just the best. Even better, there are wonderful markets right around the country. Here is our roundup of the UK’s best Christmas markets.

  • Winter Wonderland

There are few days or evenings out in December more special than a trip to Hyde Park’s famous Winter Wonderland. Truly a feast for all the senses, Winter Wonderland is a giant Christmas-themed event filled with festive food and beverage stalls (from roasted hog to mulled wine), ice skating and rides, festive traders selling various wares, and much more. That’s not to mention how gorgeous a lit Hyde Park looks. Truly delightful and suitable for all ages. For more information on Winter Wonderland, you can visit their website.

  • Southbank Centre Christmas Market

Magical family shows, markets, twinkling lights, festive fun and other seasonal delights line the River Thames each year for the Southbank Centre Christmas Market. Visitors can enjoy a Winter Market, pop-ups, craft beer, cocktails, global street food, artisan gift stores and more. This is definitely a more grown-up market in the evening and perfect for the kids in the day and early evening, when there are lots of shows on. Find out more at here.

  • East Princes Street Gardens

Scotland might be known as the place to be at New Year’s Eve, it’s also a fab location for Christmas cheer. Edinburgh’s East Princes Street Garden is a perfect example of what the city has to offer in December. The traditional and romantic Christmas Market includes crafters, artists, gift shops and gastronomic surprises, so you’ll be sure to find the perfect unique gifts for your loved ones, while enjoying some festive street food and drinks.

  • Silent Light

If markets are a little too standard for you this December, check out Edinburgh’s Silent Light. This spectacular will bring the ultimate street party to the city streets: there will be a silent disco with music synchronised to an array of 60,000 lights.
