UK Areas Where Properties Are Selling Quickest
Published: 28/07/2021
The property market in England and Wales has received a big lift in recent months following the reopening of the market and the deadline extension for stamp duty holiday cuts.
According to data published by property estate agents Zoopla, the following are some of the most popular UK areas to see properties sell the quickest so far in 2021.
Wigan, North West
Located in Greater Manchester, Wigan has been crowned the fastest-moving property location throughout the UK with it being just a short 26 days for homes to last on the market. The most popular property type purchased in this time tends to be a three-bedroom semi-detached, with the average value listed from £100,000-150,000.
Redditch, West Midlands
The Birmingham based area followed up as a close second to Wigan, with the average length of time for properties to be on the market lasting just 27 days. Similarly to Wigan, three-bedroom semi-detached homes are considered the most common property type fancied from homebuyers, with prices listed from £150,000-200,000.
Liverpool, Merseyside
At the heart of Merseyside and the city centre, Liverpool found that one-bedroom flats were the most common purchase with property listings lasting on the market for approximately 30 days, with values increasing ever so slightly from Wigan at £150,000-200,000.
Rotherham, Yorkshire
In Yorkshire, Rotherham has seen a significant amount of properties being snapped up on the market so far throughout 2021. The average listing time for properties in the area tends to last around 33 days. Two-bedroom semi-detached properties are the most popular choice for homebuyers, with property listings at £150,000-200,000.
Manchester, North West
In Manchester, one-bedroom flats seem to be the choice of property type for homebuyers with listing pricing averaging around £100,000-150,000. The average length of time for a property to be listed on the market before a sale is slightly longer than others, at 34 days.
Gateshead, North East
Situated furthest north on the list, Gateshead, based in Newcastle, saw property listing times last up to 34 days before there was activity. However, as found with other areas discussed so far, three-bedroom semi-detached homes were most popular amongst homebuyers in the area and an average £100,000-150,000 being spent in the process.
What’s the fastest-selling property type?
It appears three-bedroom semi-detached houses, which are valued on the market at around £150,000-200,000 are the fastest-selling property type so far in 2021.
Elsewhere, houses are selling at a much faster rate than flats, with an average of three weeks quicker as the trend for more space in homes continues to ramp up in popularity heading into the summer months.
