Top Things To Do During Easter Half Term
Published: 02/04/2019
With Easter (and half-term) just around the corner, we thought we’d round up some of our favourite things to do in Liverpool, the Wirral and London to keep the kids (and mum and dad) well and truly entertained.
Liverpool and The Wirral
Find the Easter bunny at Ness Gardens
Follow an interactive trail throughout the stunning Ness Gardens gardens to find out what the mischievous bunny has been up to. For more details about The Very Hungry Rabbit Easter Trail, go to their website.
A challenging chocolate hunt on a farm
After being dropped off in the forest on a tractor, families will be able to solve clues, decipher codes and play games to find hidden Easter eggs at Church Farm. There will be hunts taking place on April 19, 20, 21, and 22.
There are also lots of other activities to do on the farm. To book, visit Church Farm Events.
There will also be Easter egg hunts at Birkenhead Park on April 14 (£2, book at info@wirralanimalsanctuary.co.uk) and Wirral Transport Museum and Heritage Tramway (April 20 and 22, booking not necessary).
Magic at Tatton Park
Magic shows, puppetry and appearances from fairy tale characters are just some of the activities to be held at Tatton Park this Easter period. Of course they’ll be plenty of Easter treats on the cards too! To find out more, visit their website.
Tam O’Shanter Farm Scarecrow fun
There will be vikings, scarecrows, morris dancers and craft stalls at Bidston Hill’s famous Tam O’Shanter farm this Easter. A highlight of the festivities will be a huge scarecrow competition held over the Easter weekend, with kids (and grown-ups) able to make their own scarecrow for the farm’s field. Email thefarm@pawprintswildlife.co.uk to register before April 12.
An Easter Bake-Off
Bebington’s Claremont Farm will host The Wirral Bake Off on April 17, where you’ll decide who should be crowned Wirral’s best baker 2019.
Tickets start from £15.50 and include a welcome drink and plenty of cake. Get your tickets on Eventbrite here.
Visit the museum
There will be lots of activities for kids happening across Liverpool’s lively museums this Easter period and half-term. For details, go to their website.
London
Easter is also a fantastic time for a family trip to the capital. London is jam-packed full of free and affordable activities suited to the whole family all year round, but even more-so during the holiday period. Some fun things happening over the Easter weekend include:
Get crafty at the Horniman
If you’re not a London local, you might not be familiar with Forest Hill gem and wonderful family-friendly attraction Horniman Museum and Gardens, but it is definitely a spot worth visiting for the wonderful arts and craft-style building it's housed in alone. Over the Easter weekend, families will be able to enjoy an Easter trail, craft workshops, storytelling, face painting and many other family activities across the Gardens, in addition to the number of fascinating artefacts already on display at the museum. For more info, check out.
An egg hunt fit for royalty
Find delicious (and posh!) chocolatey prizes in the Lindt Gold Bunny Hunt held in the rooms and gardens of Kensington Palace, April 6 to 22. There will also be hunts taking place at the further afield, but equally impressive, Hampton Court Palace.
See furry animals up-close
Battersea Park Children’s Zoo allows your little ones to interact with a host of furry friends including monkeys, lemurs, meerkats, otters, farmyard animals and birds - and it’s all specially-designed for kids. Find out more.
Visit London’s top chocolate shops
Chocolate, chocolate, chocolate. Need we say more? London is home to some of the finest, fanciest chocolate shops in the world. Here’s a great listing of some of the best choc spots the Capital has to offer.
