The impact of older drivers on road traffic accidents
There has been much debate surrounding the correlation of young drivers and road traffic accidents with the government investigating ways to reduce the number of accidents.
However should the government also look at placing restrictions on older drivers? The answer is yes, according to the results in a recent survey by Auto Trader.
According to the survey of over 3700 respondents, nearly three quarters (73%) stated concerns over the behaviour of older drivers with over 25% admitting to feeling unsafe when driven by older driver. More than 60% believe drivers over the age of 65 should have to prove their driving fitness by undergoing regular sight and coordination checks.
However while concern may be high, the statistics tell a different story.
