Places To Watch Firework Displays In Liverpool & Merseyside
Published: 01/11/2019
Remember, remember the fifth of November! Bonfire Night is around the corner and every year there are various firework displays throughout Liverpool and Merseyside.
We've picked a handful of events that we believe are worth considering, for those who are planning on having a day out enjoying the sights and sounds on offer.
Liverpool City Centre - River of Light
In recent years, Liverpool City Centre has played host to the River of Light event which has seen a range of firework and artwork celebrations take place. 2019 is no different, with the event coming back for a nine-day festival!
Starting from Friday 1 November to Saturday 9 November, Liverpool’s waterfront will be transformed with up to 10 different light, colour and sound installations from various artists and organisations throughout Europe. This is a must go to event for anyone who loves a good selfie! The River of Light will take place each day at 5-10pm.
Liverpool City Centre & New Brighton - Titanium Fireworks
One of the world’s biggest pyrotechnic companies comes to Liverpool on Sunday 3 November to provide a firework extravaganza event. The company will stage two displays simultaneously, both in Liverpool City Centre (waterfront) and New Brighton. This is a brilliant opportunity for families of all ages to experience. It all kicks off from 6:30pm and will feature a soundtrack that includes the various artists who have performed in the city throughout 2019.
As this is a popular event which attracts many from outside of Liverpool and Merseyside, it can get quite congested. People hoping to find a good spot for the views are advised to arrive a little earlier. Both the River of Light and Titanium Fireworks events are free of charge, more information can be found here.
St Helens, Sherdley Park – Big Spark in the Park
On Tuesday 5 November, the Big Spark in the Park show comes to Sherdley Park in St Helens with the show starting from 7:30pm. The event will include a constellations-themed firework display called The Creation, which features conjuring images of the creation of the universe. Along with this, there are also various funfair attractions for families to take part in, which is open until 8:30pm.
The display is free of charge, however there will be charges for the use of the funfair with hot food and drinks available at several stalls throughout. Although it starts at 7:30pm, there is entertainment starting from 6pm for those that are looking to get there earlier. Public transport is available to and from Lea Green railway station. More details can be found here.
Alternatively, if you’re considering driving down, there are several carparks available to choose from located nearby including Sherdley Park, Mere Grange, Marshalls Cross Road, Lea Green railway station, the Islamic Centre and Sutton Leisure Centre, with charges of £10 per vehicle. Knowsley & Prescot – Bonfire Night & Fireworks
Those who can’t wait until Tuesday 5 November will be happy to hear that Prescot & Odyssey Cricket Club are hosting an early Bonfire Night and fireworks display for locals on Friday 1 November.
There will be a bonfire lit at 6:45pm, with the fireworks display starting from 7:30pm. If you’re travelling with family then there will be something for everyone, with fun attractions for the kids including rides and a hook a duck fairground game.
As this has been a popular event in previous years, anyone looking to attend is advised to book tickets in advance, here. Prices are set at £6 per adult, £4 per child (up to 16 years), free entry for under 5’s and £15 for a family ticket (two adults, maximum of three children). If you’re planning on making a night of it, there will be a bar open all night that will be serving food, including hot dogs and doughnuts.
There is limited carpark space available, with costs of £5 per vehicle which is bookable in advance. Those who turn up to the event without pre-booking a carpark space, have been warned that they’ll be turned away. It’s been advised to arrive on foot if possible, to help avoid congestion in and around the area.
Runcorn, Halton - Firework Display
If you live in and around the Runcorn area, you’ll be pleased to know there will be a free fireworks display held on Mersey Road this Bonfire Night.
The fun kickstarts from 6:30pm with music entertainment, before the main show takes place at 7:30pm. This year the soundtrack theme will be based around superheroes.
If you’re looking to find the best spots for the spectacular views, attendees are advised to visit the Victoria Promenade in Widnes. However, similarly to other displays taking place throughout Merseyside, as this has been a popular event for locals and those in the North West in recent years, it’s best to arrive as early as possible to avoid congestion in certain areas.
