Personal injury firm becomes latest ABS

A personal injury law firm is the latest practice to be granted an alternative business structure licence.

Wilmslow based, Bott and Co, which was established just last year, will be run by co-founders Paul Hinchliffe and Gary Froggatt who take on the roles of Practice Manager and Finance Manager respectively.

Paul Hinchliffe comments on the firms ABS status:

“Being able to operate with non-lawyer partners is a huge benefit in a modernising legal industry. We will use the ABS licence as a springboard to develop the business.”

There is an expectation within the industry that other personal injury solicitors will begin to investigate the opportunities of alternative business structures ahead of the forthcoming referral fee ban. The proposed ban is scheduled for April 2013.
