Diss, Norfolk

Famous for its turkeys, this market town is positively festive during the Christmas period. There are tonnes of themed events – our favourite is the popular Christmas tree festival, 50 Christmas Trees In A Church.

Chipping Camden, Gloucestershire

Is there anywhere more magic at Christmas than the Cotswolds? Chipping Camden looks like something out of a fairtytale in December, with the arrival of Father Christmas followed by a brass band, as local traders turn the postcard-esque high street into a scene almost too idyllic to be real.

Grassington, North Yorkshire

Traders in this Yorkshire market town actually dress up in period costumes as they sell their wares. Properties on the market here are ideal if grade-listed cottages are your thing.

Swansea

Swansea is totally festive this time of year with the Waterfront Winterland, complete with ice rinks, Ferris wheels and plenty of other buzzing family attractions. Beautiful detached period houses on the market will definitely make you say, “Nadolig LLawen!”

Nottingham

For more than six weeks, the market square in Nottingham becomes a Winter Wonderland, with an ice rink, dozens of market stalls selling Christmas food and gifts and a bar for shoppers to recuperate over a glass or two of something warm and strong.

Falmouth, Cornwall

Falmouth hosts a whole procession, in which Joseph, Mary and assorted animals wend their way up to the town square from the moor, followed by the crowd. What more could you want?

Some other great festive spots to consider include:

  • Carhampton, Somerset
  • Blackburn, Lancashire
  • Edinburgh
  • Leeds
  • Rochester, Kent
  • Salisbury, Wiltshire
