The beautiful autumnal colour schemes, fallen leaves, Halloween fun, pumpkin spice lattes, misty mornings, and cozy nights. It’s a great time to enjoy some quality family time with your loved ones, especially as the autumn half term arrives.

The UK is full of fun and exciting things to do around this time of year. To make life a bit easier for you, we’ve compiled a list of some interesting autumn attractions that are worth visiting and doing in the coming days and weeks. Enjoy!

Liverpool:

Take in the spectacular River of Light

The magical River of Light trail returns to Liverpool during the October half term, running for 17 nights in total, from Friday 21st October to Sunday 6th November.

This is a fun and exciting day out for people of all ages to experience, with the popular event showcasing ten artworks from international artists this year.

Visit the alpacas

No matter your age, nothing beats a bit of animal therapy! Beechley Stables, located in Allerton, are inviting you to come and visit their furry friends during the October half term.

On Wednesday 26th October, Beechley Stables has four sessions available for people to visit the alpacas. They are advising there are limited spaces on offer, so it’s well worth trying to book in advance.

Ticket prices are £10 each, with five-year-olds and under, going for free. More information can be found here.

Join in the circus fun at the Royal Albert Dock

The Grand Hall, located on the Royal Albert Dock, will be transformed into a fun circus school for any budding performers, offering 200 spaces to those who want to learn some circus skills. The best part of this? It’s free of charge! Classes and workshops will be taking place from 10am to 3pm on Monday 24th October to Thursday 27th October.

What classes are on offer, you might be asking? There are a whole host of fun activities such as juggling, plate-spinning, pumpkin carving and more!

You can also enjoy some fabulous family-dining menus from the various restaurants situated throughout the Albert Dock, from What’s Cooking to Gusto. At the end of your visit, why not buy a souvenir from The Nest.

Spooktacular safari trail at Knowsley Safari Park

You and your family can enjoy some spooky Halloween animal-themed scavenger hunt at Knowsley Safari Park during the half term, where among Amur Tigers, Miron and Sinda, visits will follow a trail of interactive activities including ‘guess the potion’ games, a range of fun pumpkin themed activites and selfie opportunities with a ghost!

We’re off to see the Wizard…

Friday 21st October to Sunday 30th October, you and your family can enjoy the fantastic Wizard of Oz at the Epstein Theatre.

Regal Entertainment’s fantastic production will be filled with many songs and dance, sensational sets, fabulous costumes, hilarious comedy and fun!

So what are you waiting for! Go down the yellow brick road with Dorothy, Toto, the Wizard, Scarecrow and Tin Man!

Manchester:

Spooky season hits Trafford Centre

Manchester Trafford Centre is taking part in the spooky season, with the return of its Spookfest. The event runs from Friday 14th October to Sunday 30th October and will have families enjoy a range of hair-raising activities from the haybale maze, ghosts trains, haunted houses and plenty of treats for the little monsters.

Gandey’s Circus is also at the Trafford Centre this October, with the Big Top Show bringing vampires, skeletons and many more spooky characters that’ll have you on the edge of your seat! It’s being advised that Gandey’s Halloween Spooktacular must be booked in advance.

Skate the night away at Scare Skate

Scare Skate is back in Manchester! The fun family attraction is returning to Manchester’s Cathedral Gardens as part of the Halloween event. During your time on the ice rink, there will be Halloween-themed music and fun lighting effects for you to enjoy.

The event runs from Friday 21st October to Monday 31st October and promises to ‘bring frightfully good fun to half term festivities’.

Halloween at Harry Potter World

Are you and your family big Harry Potter fans? Well make autumn half term the time you visit the magical and breathtaking Harry Potter World at the Studio Tour in Watford.

The Dark Arts is back and is inviting guests to step into the various iconic sets from the film series, all decorated for Halloween! From the floating pumpkins in the Great Hall, discovering the secrets behind the Riddikulus to learning wand combat before practicing your spells on the Death Eaters, the fantastic Harry Potter World has it all!
