Cheap conveyancing is not always cheerful

Published: 06/02/2014

The majority of homemovers are not swayed by cheap conveyancing quotes, suggesting an increase in understanding that 'you get what you pay for'.

According to the poll of 4762 people, which is believed to be the most widely completed consumer survey highlighting the trends and decision making process in the moving home process, less than a fifth (18%) chose their conveyancer who charged the lowest price.

The survey – conducted by TM Group and The Property Academy – also found that 46 per cent of homeowners based their choice of solicitor on the advice or recommendation of their estate agents.

Lynne McCaffrey is pleased to hear firsthand experience is a stronger influencer than price alone:

“At a time when everyone is still keeping a tight grip of their purse strings, it is refreshing to hear that price is not the ultimate factor in a homemovers decision making process.

“Sadly many people have found out the hard way that cheap does not always translate into a cheerful experience when it comes to conveyancing. In fact the client is often left to pay in the longer run.

“But there now seems to be a growing recognition that conveyancing is a specialised area of law and an experience conveyancer can make this stressful life event as hassle-free as possible.

“We are celebrating our 30th year in the legal industry this year and have only withstood the test of time (crash and all) by providing the highest calibre of service for our clients.”

But quality doesn’t necessarily come with an exorbitant price tag. Our conveyancing fees start at just £399^ and our remortgage costs are just £299 including VAT and standard disbursements. Click here to get your free online quote
